Refund Policy

We want you to love your PetTales™ storybook. If something isn't right, we're here to help. Our refund policy varies depending on the product type.

Digital Products

Digital storybooks ($17) are delivered instantly as downloadable PDFs. Because digital products cannot be "returned," we offer refunds in the following cases:

  • Generation failure — If the storybook fails to generate or is incomplete due to a technical error.
  • Material defect — If the storybook contains significant errors that make it unusable (e.g., missing pages, corrupted images).

Refund requests for digital products must be made within 7 days of purchase.

Physical Products

Hardcover books (from $44.99) are custom-printed products made specifically for you. We offer refunds or reprints in the following cases:

  • Damaged in shipping — If your book arrives damaged, we will send a replacement or issue a full refund at your choice.
  • Print defect — If there is a printing defect (misaligned pages, color issues, binding problems), we will reprint and reship at no cost.
  • Lost in transit — If your book does not arrive within a reasonable timeframe after the estimated delivery date, we will investigate with our shipping partner and either reship or refund.

Because hardcover books are custom-printed products, we cannot accept returns for reasons of personal preference (e.g., you changed your mind about the art style or theme). Damage or defect claims must be made within 14 days of delivery.

Dedication Page Add-on

The dedication page add-on ($4.99) is part of your storybook and follows the same refund policy as the parent book. If your digital or hardcover book qualifies for a refund, the dedication add-on is included in the refund.

Multi-book Bundles

Bundle purchases (Duo, Family, Collection) include credits for multiple unique books. Our bundle refund policy:

  • Unused credits — If you have unused book credits remaining, we can refund the pro-rated value of those unused credits.
  • Used credits — Books already created from bundle credits follow the standard per-book refund policy above.

How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, email us at [email protected] with:

  • Your account email address
  • The storybook or order in question
  • A description of the issue (and photos of damage, if applicable)

Processing Timeline

We aim to respond to all refund requests within 2 business days. Once a refund is approved:

  • Refunds are processed back to your original payment method via Stripe.
  • Please allow 5–10 business days for the refund to appear on your statement, depending on your bank or card issuer.
  • Replacement reprints for damaged books typically ship within 3–5 business days after approval.
